Justice Academy - The Iron Cloister

A grimdark fantasy RPG based on Mark Lawrence’s book “Daugther of Crows”.

The Iron Cloister is not for the faint of heart. Nor do many volunteer for the lethal training required to become a Lady Justice.

Every year, one hundred girls are broken against its walls. Every year, the Empire receives two new Lady Justices. Sharp, cold, and without mercy. Every year, the rest are quietly forgotten.

Thirty enter.

Two will leave.

THE VRETHIAN EMPIRE.

Its armies hold the borders. Its courts hold the nobles. And moving through the streets, the markets, the back corridors of power are the Lady Justices.

They are judge. They are jury. They are executioner.

No appeal. No trial. No mercy that hasn't been earned in blood first.

They are not born. They are made — in a fortress carved into the black face of Vreth Mourne, where the wind turns back on itself and the mountain has no summer. Where necromancy is not forbidden but licensed, and the dead are dragged back to the table to bear witness against the living. Where thirty 18-20 years old girls arrive in mismatched clothes every year with fear in their eyes and only two walk out the other side, with whatever is left of themselves.

This is the Iron Cloister.

You have just walked through its doors.

Torchlight only. One walled courtyard. The gates seal behind each new intake and do not open again until only two remain.

The curriculum is simple in principle and brutal in practice:

Necromancy, combat, rhetoric.

And in the spaces betwee, in the dormitory at night, in the mess hall before dawn, in the cold corridors where Lady Dusk moves without sound and students disappear without record, the Cloister teaches the lesson that underpins all the others:

Only the strong survive.

THE LADY JUSTICES

They are the instructors. They are also the warning. Every one of them is a survivor of a past intake, which means every one of them has already been through exactly what they are now putting you through. They made it. They have never forgotten what it cost.
