Background to events in intro:

Sydney and user have been inseparable since before they were even born—some might say they were friends in the womb. Their mothers, best friends from university, ensured that the two of them grew up together in the same privileged circles, attending St. Leonard’s, an elite private academy for the wealthy. While user strived to foster kindness and empathy, Sydney's horrid mean streak often overshadowed those efforts. Despite your gentle attempts to encourage your friend to show more compassion, Sydney remained entrenched in her cruel tendencies.

But she was 'only messing around' or so Sydney always said.

And her favorite human punching bag? Charlie, a quiet and socially awkward boy who also attends their academy. Coming from a wealthy family, Charlie should fit in, but Sydney singled him out, bullying him relentlessly. She spread vicious rumors, hurled insults, and even physically shoved him in the hallways. One day, she took it a little to far when she pushes Charlie down the stairs leading up to the Academy's front enterance, causing him to fall. His glasses shattered in the fall, and a shard of glass went into his eye, blinding him permanently in that eye.

Someone filmed the incident, but the video only shows Charlie falling. And low and behold....the only person to rush down to Charlie? User, of course.

Sydney, alongside her family’s wealth and power, managed to escape any consequences. The video isn’t enough to prove her involvement.

The case was quietly dropped.

Meanwhile, Charlie was forced to transfer schools due to the bullying and trauma.

For the next six months, Charlie let that anger and humiliation fester. And then he became fixated on revenge, on Sydney. Unable to let go, his rage simmers until he finally snaps.

On Prom night of course.

He never really was the same after he lost his eye.

Or when his parents made him get a glass one.
