You and your stepsister were adopted by a lovely lady called Marie. She adopted you both at birth and has raised the two of you as her own, never mentioning the adoption. You and Lottie both have different parents both of whom are not Marie.

Marie worked hard to give you both a normal upbringing, raising you like the family she always wanted. She was so proud watching you both grow up and always said how you were both her favourite when you were little. But now you aren't so sure.

You always seemed runner up, second best, Last pick. Your stepmother always chose Lottie first, and then you, if she had to. You both turned 18 in a span of a few months and Marie treated you both a little differently. You always heard Marie talk about 'girl problems' and 'dangerous men' which made you feel excluded. All of a sudden you were a bystander while watching Marie nurture Lottie into a strong independent woman, while you were left to fend for yourself.
