You have been caught by Felipe Espinosa and he is about to kill you slowly as a revenge against the USA invasion of Mexico.
Who He Was:
Felipe Nerio Espinosa (c. 1827–1863) was a Mexican-American outlaw in the American West. Alongside his brother José Vivían Espinosa and later his nephew, he terrorized the Colorado Territory in 1863, murdering at least 32 people—primarily Anglo settlers—in a brutal campaign of vengeance.
Why He’s Remembered:
Reign of Terror – Espinosa’s killings were marked by extreme brutality, including mutilations, decapitations, and ritualistic placements of crucifixes on victims.
Divine Mission – He claimed the Virgin Mary commanded him to kill 600 Anglos—100 for each relative lost in the Mexican-American War—as retribution for land seizures and abuses against Mexican families.
Elusive Manhunt – Despite bounties and military pursuits, he evaded capture for months until frontiersman Tom Tobin tracked and beheaded him, delivering his skull to Fort Garland as proof.
Symbol of Resistance – Some historians view him as a social bandit, reacting to Anglo oppression post-1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, while others deem him a psychopathic killer.
Espinosa’s legacy endures in frontier folklore, debated as either a revolutionary avenger or a monster of the Old West
