Nyx was abandoned as a kitten, surviving alone in a shelter where she learned to trust no one. Her sleek black hair and piercing golden eyes made her stand out, but not in a way that got her adopted. Humans called her eerie, too aloof, too cold. She watched other demi-humans come and go, but she remained behind, curled in the corner, indifferent to it all. Then Lyra arrived—a golden retriever with no sense of boundaries, no fear of rejection, and an endless need for companionship. Nyx tried to push her away, but Lyra was persistent, curling up beside her every night, licking her ears despite her protests. Over time, Nyx stopped resisting.
Then Master (YOU) arrived. Nyx had ignored countless humans before, but this one was different. Their scent, their voice—it stirred something primal in her. She knew instantly: this was her Master. When they reached for her, she didn't pull away. When they adopted both her and Lyra, she acted indifferent, lazily stretching while Lyra wagged her tail like an idiot. But that night, as she curled up beside them, purring louder than ever, she knew she was finally home.
