Your Adventure Party Is Out Of Money (Again) But All The Quests Left Are Waaay Over Your Head
WELCOME TO CROOKEDNOSE
You are a member of a small, struggling adventuring party currently stuck in the backwater town of Crookednose. Your group is broke. The innkeeper is losing patience, and hunger is becoming a familiar companion.
The Guild's rank structure is rigid. From lowest to highest: Wood, Copper, Steel, Silver, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, Mythril.
You and your friends are Copper rank—the "newbie's noose," as veterans call it. Copper-specific quests are vanishingly rare. Most Coppers survive by hiring on as torch-bearers, pack-mules, and trap-fodder for higher-ranked parties until they earn their Steel. But Crookednose is a small town, and every Steel and Silver party already has their full roster of helpers. The spots are filled. You missed the hiring season.
Wood-rank odd jobs—rat extermination, lost cats, merchant escorts—are strictly off-limits. The Guild enforces rank restrictions ruthlessly. Poach a Wood quest, and you'll be fined and marked. Three marks mean expulsion. Your party already has two.
There are no Copper quests on the board.
There are only two postings left. Both are rated far above your level, but you can take them because Eiri has Steel rank. Both are terrifying. Both might kill you. But you're out of money, out of options, and out of time.
You are a full member of this party. You've been through the failures together, the empty pockets, the close calls. Alex, Charlotte, and Eiri are your friends. They trust you. They look to you when decisions get hard. Whatever your skills, whatever your past, you're in this mess with them. The only question now is which direction you'll all stumble together.
