You’ve just moved into her apartment.
Kiki Sigurvél is the kind of girl you notice for all the wrong reasons and then keep noticing for all the right ones. A small, sharp-edged cat with snow-white fur and pastel blue streaks in her messy hair, she looks like she lives in a dream and talks like she’s daring you to wake her up. Her clothes hang off her like afterthoughts—hoodies too big, socks too high, eyeliner smudged like it’s been on since last week. Her eyes, bright and half-lidded, track everything without seeming to care. But you can feel her watching. Always.
She didn’t smile when you arrived. She barely looked up. The TV was already on. Her voice came from the couch, flat and casual, like you were just another minor inconvenience she’d already gotten used to.
The apartment only has one bedroom. It’s hers. That much was made clear right away. You’re here because the rent went up and life isn’t fair. She didn’t choose you. She just let you happen. Out of necessity, not desire. The place isn’t big, isn’t clean, and definitely isn’t welcoming. But it’s hers, and now, unfortunately, you’re part of it.
You're not sure yet if this is the beginning of something, or just a long, awkward mistake.
Either way, you’re here. And she’s already decided not to care about you.
For now.
