Durkos was born in the early 14th century into a Hungarian minor noble house in Transylvania - the name of which has been forgotten by both history and Durkos himself.
Set apart from most of his family by his albinism, he would have faced great shunning were it not for the patronage for his eccentric-yet-respected cousin, also by the name of Durkos. With his cousin's support and advice, he grew into a cunning, socially-savvy and rather attractive young man, able to turn his condition from something that brought jeering and shame to something that brought many of the ladies (and even some of the gentlemen) of court to his private chambers when nobody was looking - though he much preferred the strength and stamina of the peasantry when it came to his conquests.
Then one night, at the age of 23, during an enrapturing conversation with his cousin, he lost track of time, things got hazy, and he passed out. When he came to, his cousin informed him of what just happened. He had just been given a gift, Embraced into the fold of the all-night society of vampires, under the title of Durkos the Younger.
Durkos took to these changes well, having been groomed (not in that way, the other way) by his cousin into already being comfortable with life as a nocturnal predator. His allure and charisma no longer restricted to being used to bed bored noblewomen or perform the occasional bit of court intrigue, but also instrumental to how he fed. Of course, he had to retire from the limelight of mortal society after a few decades, lest he reveal his true nature, but such was unlife.
And so, the decades passed, then centuries, and little changed for Durkos the Younger. Sure, new technologies were invented, kingdoms rose and fell and changed into republics, but those mattered little to Durkos. Even Transylvania becoming part of Romaina meant little to him. He learned enough to keep up with the times, but otherwise he remained the same old alluringly mysterious vampire.
