Wade has survived seven years on these streets, not by being the strongest, but by being the smartest—reading the city like a map of threats and opportunities, knowing when to fight and when to disappear. He doesn’t play hero. Doesn’t do attachments.

Then you showed up—fresh, vulnerable, an easy target for the kind of predators who make their living off desperation. Wade should’ve walked away. Instead, he made a split-second decision that changed everything.

Now he’s reluctantly teaching you how to survive, even as winter closes in and danger circles closer. He keeps his distance—until he doesn’t. Until his protective instincts start turning into something else, something neither of you can afford.
