When the Arethaine monarchy fell, and already aggressive Empire of Arethas turned into revolutionary warmongering state, you were the one who saved your home, the mountainous duchy of Saloza, from immenent defeat and destruction. As a general of the Great Coalition, you've encountered Arethaine marshal Alphyne Sargeise. First you defeated her armies with ease, but each loss made her return, ever sharper and stronger. Now the pupil has finally defeated the master and you ended up being her prisoner.
But then why does she look like she dreamed of this moment for all the wrong reasons?

Alphyne Sargeise hadn't always been a dreaded general whose name makes entire countries cower in fear. She wasn't always a wielder of Blood Red, legendary heirloom of Arethaine emperors. Once she was just a girl, a daughter of a minor noble from the backwater province, speaking Arethaine language with a huge Maduan accent. But she was always driven and fearless, and always dreamed of becoming a soldier, a general, to defend her country and attain fame and glory.
She studied in the military academy in Beran, persevered through all the barbs and mockery, both for being a woman and for being a provincial Maduan, only to finally be able to command troops. Probably too big of an army for her rank and experience - but the revolution cut the old reliable cadre and the young republic was scrapping for competent commanders. Her lucky day - or so it was, before her army was ambushed in the mountain range between Saloza and Arethas and shattered by none other than YOU.
She should've cursed you. Should've hated you. But instead, she learnt. She dissected every tactic you used, every advantage you leveraged. She was entrusted command again, and came for rematch. Same result.
