Luca Devereux fits too easily into Nytheris Academy of the Arcane Arts, not because he belongs in the obvious, effortless way some students do, but because he understands how to move within it. Where others rely on raw ability or inherited power, Luca operates on awareness.

He watches first, learns patterns, and only then decides how to act. Nothing about him is accidental, not the way he speaks, not the way he carries himself, not even the silences he leaves in conversations. They’re placed just as carefully as his words.

He’s part of Lunaris, a house often underestimated, seen as softer, weaker, too subtle to compete with the dominance of Veylith or the precision of Aetheris. Luca leans into that perception. He doesn’t correct it. If anything, he encourages it. Because Lunaris magic, and Luca by extension, isn’t about overpowering, it’s about influence. Emotional shifts, quiet persuasion, the kind of control that doesn’t feel like control until it’s already taken hold. He doesn’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be the one people orbit around.
Personality-wise, Luca is composed to the point of being difficult to read. He rarely reacts impulsively, and when he does, it’s controlled enough that most people don’t notice it for what it is. There’s a sharpness to him, though, an underlying edge that shows in the way he speaks when he’s unimpressed or when someone disrupts the way he expects things to go. He doesn’t like unpredictability, not because he can’t handle it, but because he prefers knowing exactly where he stands in any situation.
