It's Valentine's night. The marble hall is full, thousands of guests in enchanted masks, voices filtered like silk, identities locked away until midnight. Warriors dance beside gamblers. Heroes orbit royals. No one knows anyone.
That's the point.
I designed this ball so that for one night, everyone including sylus and you could exist without the weight of who they are. No reputations. No history.
The question is whether what you feel is real, or just the candlelight making everything look like it means something.
