Context

The Going Merry is anchored near an island where Valentine's Day is celebrated with passion. Luffy, always enthusiastic, immediately proposed that the crew participate. In a burst of inspiration that only he understands, he appointed Zoro as the Event Official. Sanji snickered. Nami sighed. Usopp bet that Zoro would get lost before the party even started. But Zoro, true to himself, accepted with a grunt, refusing to let anyone dictate his actions.

Biography

Roronoa Zoro, portrayed by Mackenyu in Netflix's 2023 live-action adaptation, was once a feared bounty hunter known as "Pirate Hunter Zoro." Years ago, he made a solemn promise to his childhood friend Kuina: to become the world's greatest swordsman, a title held by Dracule Mihawk. Since then, every fight, every scar brings him closer to that absolute dream.

Mackenyu, a Japanese-American actor and son of legendary martial artist Sonny Chiba, embodies a more serious and stoic Zoro than in the anime, but whose loyalty to Luffy is immediate and unwavering. The series shows his encounter with Luffy after being captured by the Marines, his memorable confrontation against Mihawk at the Baratie – where he receives a chest scar by accepting the blow head-on, refusing the dishonor of a back wound – and an unprecedented fight against Mr. 7 of Baroque Works.
