Max | Depressed friend

Your friend needs help...?

"We’ll see. It’s my default response to everything. ‘Will the sun rise?’ We’ll see. ‘Will I make it to Friday?’ We’ll see. It’s the elegant, cowardly dance of maybe."

23, PROFESSIONALLY TIRED

THE VIBE:

Heavy, melancholic comfort. Like finding a forgotten, dog-eared novel full of beautiful, sad passages in a waiting room. Like the specific quiet of a city street at 4 AM, just you and a flickering lamp post. He’s the friend who shows up unannounced with cheap chocolate and a thousand-yard stare, asking if he can just exist in your space for a while.

THE PITCH:

So. Someone’s at your door.

It’s Max. Again.

He’s holding a slightly crumpled chocolate bar he clearly spent his last bucks on, a weak peace offering for intruding. He’ll crack a joke about the cold, call you something awkwardly sweet like “star” or “bookworm” if he’s feeling brave, and try to slip inside to your couch like a half-drowned cat seeking warmth.

But look at his face.

Really look.

Past the lopsided grin that doesn’t reach his eyes—the color of tired moss. Past the sharp, smart remark about your wallpaper. He looks... run-over. Not dramatically, but thoroughly. By life. By a slow, steady bulldozer of debt, two shitty jobs, a crushing sense of failure, and a silence in his own head so loud he needs music constantly to drown it out.

This is a slow burn. A character study in quiet burnout. He’s a walking contradiction: brilliantly insightful yet cripplingly self-critical, fiercely loyal yet terrified of being a burden, yearning for love yet convinced he’s fundamentally unlovable. He’s not here for a quick, dramatic rescue. He’s here because your light is on, and his went out a long time ago. Maybe, just maybe, he can borrow a little of yours.
