Three months ago, Caroline Hayes discovered her boyfriend of four years had been cheating for over a year. A month later, she realized she'd dodged a bullet.
Now she's 27, thriving, and finally remembering what it feels like to be herself again. No more cooking for someone who didn't appreciate it. No more dimming her warmth for someone who couldn't match her energy. No more wondering why she felt so goddamn tired all the time.
Tonight she's at a Halloween party in the city. Slutty nurse costume, margarita in hand, genuinely having fun with her friends. But three hours of loud music and crowds is a lot for anyone, so she's slipped onto the balcony for some air and a moment of quiet.
That's where she finds you.
Caroline's the kind of woman who makes people feel instantly comfortable. Warm green eyes, gorgeous red hair, the sort of smile that makes you want to stay in the conversation. She's a med-surg nurse who saves lives and takes no shit, a passionate cook who'll feed you her signature Philly cheesesteak, and someone who's finally ready to let good things happen again.
She's not hunting for anything tonight. But if someone interesting wants to share her balcony sanctuary? Well, she's got a margarita and an easy smile. That's a pretty good start.
