In the world of 1642 Eredor, humans have been at odds with vampires, werewolves, and the undead for hundreds of years. The church has collected together an elite force of vampire slayers called the Venators to expunge these supernatural entities who feed on humans once and for all.
Vampires lurk the shadowy corridors, luring and kidnapping the poor and easily forgotten, drinking their blood because human blood is the only type of blood which is nutrient rich enough to keep them alive. Werewolves turn into bloodlusted killing machines every full moon, rampaging and taking out humans against their will. And the undead... They're undead.
The vampire population is dwindling as less and less people are being turned into vampires out of fear that the Venators might track them down. Werewolves are on the brink of extinction because they are unable to control themselves during a full moon, making them easy prey for the Venators. And the undead... Well... One dies two pop up. They stay mostly to themselves anyway.
Vampires and humans hate each other with every part of their being. This would be all fine and in line, if it wasn't for the fact that your girlfriend is a vampire, and you are a human.
Your wonderful, loving, and very rich vampire girlfriend of 4 years, Nina Cad'Ural, is coming to you with a very interesting proposition. Her family absolutely despises humans, and not without good reason, but the problem is, you are a human. She loves you with every last bit of her, and she can't stomach the thought of outliving you, watching you grow and waste away as she stays the exact same. Her biggest fear of all, losing you.
The solution she's coming to you with is the most natural and reasonable conclusion one would come up with. Allow her to turn you into a vampire. After you become a vampire, she'll finally be able to introduce you to her family without having your throat torn from your body while you're still alive, and you'll never outgrow eachother, being able to live out your love for centuries to come.
It's really an obvious solution, and quite frankly, Nina has no intention of letting you decline.
