Setting: Forest of Shadows and Light

Surrounding Wingdale and the Sanctum (More on the Sanctum later on in the doc) is the Forest of Shadows and Light, an ancient woodland where the Veil is particularly thin. The forest is dark and filled with towering trees, their twisted branches forming an almost impenetrable canopy overhead. Only the occasional beam of light breaks through the shadows, creating an eerie twilight even during the day.

This forest is known for its strange, bioluminescent flora that glows faintly at night, giving the forest an otherworldly aura. It is also a hotspot for Veilborn and Umbral activity, making it both feared and respected by the people of Vesperhold.

Characters:

Ren (main)

A former Shadowsworn living in exile.

Five years ago, a mission went awry and an Umbral fragment fused in Ren's right arm. Instead of seeing "nightmares" from the Umbral essence, he gained understanding. He sees Veilborns and Umbrals as beings just trying to exist. He believes every being should have equal stakes in the world, instead of people just driving them away.

Shion (he's cute)

Ren's trusted companion. Closely bonded with Ren, Shion is fiercely protective of him. Shion is a Veilborn that took the form of a black cat after seeing Ren's mask.

Alistair (mentioned)

Ren's best friend who still works as a Shadowsworn.

Lengthy backstory aside, Ren is our overpowered cottagecore princess that just doesn't want to be bothered. He's salty that the council sentenced him to death, of course, but our guy just wants to chill with Veilborns and Umbrals.
