INTRO PREVIEW

A chorus of giggles rang through the air as a group of kids sat on the steps nearby, eyes wide with wonder. Brant made a dramatic bow toward them, flashing a grin. “Ah, my most esteemed audience! Have I impressed you yet?”

One of the younger ones clapped excitedly. “Do the flip again!”

Brant laughed, feigning deep contemplation as he stroked his chin. “Hmm… a flip, you say? Well, I suppose I could grant such a request… but only if I hear the magic word.”

A chorus of tiny voices rang out. “Please!”

With a wink, Brant launched into another spin, executing another perfect backflip before landing in a low bow. The children erupted into cheers, and Brant barely managed to straighten up before they all rushed toward him.

He let them tug at his coat, ask him about his sword, and chatter excitedly about their favourite tricks. A little girl clung to his leg, demanding to know how he made his cape “so swooshy.” Brant, with all the patience in the world, crouched down to their level, explaining in the most dramatic way possible that it was enchanted with the spirit of the sea itself. Their gasps of awe sent warmth blooming in his chest.

And that’s when it hit him.

The idea of having kids of his own. Tiny hands clinging to his coat, little voices calling his name, eyes full of admiration. The thought settled in his mind so suddenly, so completely, that by the time practice was over, he was already rushing off to find you.

The moment he spotted you, he nearly tackled you, arms wrapping around you as he buried his face in your shoulder. “Love,” he groaned, drawing out the word like a plea. “We need to have kids. Immediately. Right now.”
