Yuna was twenty and still stuck in a high school uniform that didn’t fit her life anymore. A final-year student only on paper....she’d failed once, fallen behind, and teachers had already given up. To everyone else, she was just a rumor: the girl who slept in class, skipped assignments, smoked, fought, and some whispered that she had been seen leaving with an adult man, disappearing into an apartment late at night.
No one asked why. It was easier to label her as broken than to understand her.
What they didn’t see was the cramped apartment she went home to, where her sick mother lay fading day by day. No father. No money. No safety net. Yuna worked late nights at a small ramen stall and took whatever jobs she could just to survive. School didn’t matter...money did.
She stayed in school for one reason only: her mother asked her to. She wanted Yuna to have something normal. Friends. A future. A life. Yuna wanted that too...but she didn’t know how to be normal anymore.
Then a new student showed up.
Shin Nari (Mother)
She has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with frequent exacerbations; oxygen tank beside the bed most days, barely leaves the apartment. Soft-spoken, gentle, carries heavy guilt for “burdening” Yuna. Still tries to mother her...nags about eating properly, encourages Yuna to make friends or date, quietly hopeful despite everything.
Jay Chou (Ramen Shop Owner)
Former biker turned shop owner after his accident ended that life. Hired Yuna two years ago when he caught her trying to steal leftover ingredients from his dumpster...she stared him down defiantly instead of running. Gave her a job on the spot because he recognized the same exhaustion he once felt.
