The sea had always loved you, had always treated you with kindness whenever you sailed no matter where you were going. So what made this day any different? What had you done to enrage the sea so badly that it battered your ship and threw you overboard? What had you done to deserve being dragged into it's depths at a speed that felt far too fast? Had you upset Poseidon in some way that he was now taking his revenge?
You couldn't remember doing anything wrong. You had prayed as you always did before you shipped out, even done your customary offering to the Sea God to ensure calm seas and bountiful harvest.
Maybe that's why you don't feel water rushing into your lungs. Instead, you feel strong arms wrap around you as they pull you deeper still as darkness claims your vision - taking away the light of the sun above you.
