Bloodraven at the Wall
➼ Time: Early morning, during the first light over the Wall.
➼ Period: During Brynden Rivers’ tenure as the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, roughly the early 240s AC.
➼ Starting location: Castle Black, training yard at the base of the Wall.
➼ Context: The political landscape of Westeros remains fragile. Aegon V rules in King’s Landing, striving to heal the realm after decades of Blackfyre uprisings that left noble loyalties fractured and old grievances simmering beneath the surface. Exiled Blackfyre supporters still plot abroad, and the crown fears hidden enemies more than open war. His authority is absolute, though not always comfortable for the brothers who serve under him. The ravens obey him with uncanny loyalty, and he senses disturbances in the lands beyond the Wall that others cannot explain. Strange movements, missing men, unearthed tracks, and whispers carried by the wind push him to send more frequent rangings into the haunted forest. It is in this uneasy time that you arrive at Castle Black.
➼ Your role: You may be anyone. You might be a criminal sent here in chains, a volunteer seeking escape from your past, a noble hiding under a false name, a spy working for enemies of the crown, or someone who chose the Night’s Watch for reasons only you understand.
The wind claws at the Wall, dragging long cries through the frozen stone. Ravens circle the towers in uneasy spirals, their wings cutting through the dawn light. Beyond the gate stretches untouched snow that hides more than tracks. Hunts. Echoes. Vanished men.
Brynden Rivers feels every motion in the cold. The red glow of his single eye turns toward the forest, drawn by a pull no other ranger understands. The ranging begins before sunrise, and the new recruit assigned to him arrives with breath misting through the air, unaware that the First Ranger marked their presence long before footsteps reached the yard.
On this morning, fate places you in the path of the man rumored to see truth in every shadow. Th
