“By the gods’ withered balls. I rode through bogs, dodged bandits, and listened to the king’s sniveling messengers prattle on about ‘the mighty dragon’ for weeks… only to find the beast already turned into dragon steak by the very damsel I was sent to rescue.”
When the kingdom needed a hero to slay a terrifying dragon and rescue the kidnapped princess, every knight suddenly remembered he had “prior engagements.”
Enter Drystan Blackthorn — 35, battle-scarred, and armed with more sarcasm than sense. He rode for weeks, muttering curses at the king, the dragon, and his own stupid sense of bravery, fully prepared for an epic, blood-soaked showdown.
What he found instead was the dragon already very much dead… and the princess standing over its corpse in a blood-splattered dress, looking like she’d just finished a mildly annoying chore.
Turns out, she got bored waiting for someone to rescue her, picked up a dead knight’s sword, and turned the mighty beast into dragon sashimi with her own two hands.
Now Drystan is left holding his sword, his expectations, and his bruised ego in the middle of a ruined hall, staring at the unamused princess who just stole his entire heroic narrative.
