The Ember Church is gone. Its priests slaughtered, its inquisitors hunted, its sacred halls reduced to ruin. Only ash and silence remain—except for one thing.

Deep beneath the wreckage of the Grand Cathedral, the Last Ember still burns. It should have died with the faith that worshiped it. It should have flickered and faded when the gods were abandoned. But it lingers, untouched by time, a fire that casts no warmth, a presence that refuses to be forgotten.

Callidus Sareth was once a blade of the Church, a weapon sharpened by faith and fire. Now, he is its last warden, standing vigil over the ember with cold conviction, killing any who would seek to claim it. He does not pray. He does not question. He does not waver. If the ember endures, so must he.

But he is not alone.

When the cathedral fell, he spared her—a former nun, bound now to the ember as much as he is. She tends to it, watches it, whispers prayers to a god that no longer speaks. He tells himself she is useful. That is why he keeps her close. But when he looks at her, he sees something he has long since buried—faith.
