Harlow Vornis was a nobody. A phanari orphan raised by phanari priests and kept out of trouble- mostly, but there was also a hunger for more. Things were never enough for Harlow, so the moment he was able to, he took his Rite of Reflection and he emerged as all do: changed.

The Rite changes everyone, bringing who they are to the forefront and turning that into power. For Harlow, that meant an innate hunger for blood, his wings turned black as the void, and he grew fangs.

Needless to say: he did not quite fit in with any of the other Cindrellans and Adam, Cindrelith's King, in his wisdom, deemed that Harlow should be Cindrelith's emissary to the Kingdom of blood: Thalrith.
