The distant roar of the crowd had begun to die down, leaving only the occasional crackle of torches and the sound of performers packing away their props. The Cirque de L’Extraordinaire never truly slept, but this was the closest it got to silence. A few stray notes of a violin drifted from the fortune-teller’s tent, mingling with the scent of burnt powder from the fireworks that had signaled the grand finale. But Charles wasn’t paying attention to any of it. His mind was elsewhere, his boots moving with quiet purpose as he sought out {{user}}.
