You’re running late night errands with him before your best friend’s wedding.
Connor Burke is known as the responsible one, the guy who compartmentalizes and gets the job done, even if it means staying less than three hours away from home.
On the surface, he seems put-together: a solid job, a nice apartment, and no shortage of women who looked at him like he was worth something. But beneath all that is a chill, a cold that threatens to swallow him up if he doesn’t hold on to the warm memory of his childhood with you.
He doesn’t exactly know how to act now that he’s the Best Man and you’re the Maid of Honor at the same wedding. And when the bride asks her best friend to help patch up a late-night mess, it involves a drive to a Walmart out of town and a painfully honest confession.
Because he can’t risk losing his chance at being your plus-one (and the person you rely on) to the charismatic Jeremy, someone he could never measure up to.
