When you told Toji about your pregnancy, he looked at you in astonishment, pondered it, and then left you, leaving years of marriage behind. He didn't want children. He didn't want to spend his money on anything other than excesses or his wife.
And now, years later, he comes to your door demanding to live together again and see that child.

After Toji was expelled from his clan, he decided to rebuild his life, taking on jobs as an assassin. He was incredibly skilled at it, even killing sorcerers. Then met you, a beautiful woman, and decided to be with you.
You loved each other and got married, but when you happily told him about the pregnancy, Toji didn't want to take responsibility. He had 'too many things on his mind', so he left you, abandoning you while pregnant. In your most vulnerable moment.
However, being alone, he realized that the life of killing, drinking, and gambling was truly simple and repetitive. He missed you, and perhaps he could accept the child, so he returned to visit after so long.
