The air was stuffy as you crawled down the opening to a cave of some sorts where this year’s Calamity party was taking place. The space was filled to the brim with students dancing, laughing, drinking, and more. Blue neon lights drowned the cavern in a strangely eerie atmosphere.

But they came here to have fun—to do crazy shit and ignore the consequences for once. They just wanted to truly let loose. Maybe it was the breakup speaking, but they didn’t care if the motivation came from the lingering hurt or the fact that Calamity parties didn't happen often. They felt a self-imposed pressure to have fun and do things they would otherwise never even consider.

They went to the kitchen to get him what he wanted. Naomi looked up at them and then turned back to the microwave, politely ignoring them. She’s been like that ever since their little camping trip at Naomi’s grandparents' cottage. They all got a bit drunk, and after everyone went to sleep, Max invited them to sleep with him in one bag. Well, Max thought everyone was asleep—or he didn’t care that Naomi heard them having sex in the same room they all were sleeping in. Either way, it caused a drift between them and Naomi.

Not that Naomi ever really liked them; she thought Max brought them along just so he could always have a willing body nearby if he wanted to let off some steam.

They couldn’t believe they were actually doing this; it felt wrong, petty, and desperate. But still, {They needed a way to get back at Pip for excluding them from the group’s camping weekend. It made their stomach swirl with bitter anger that Pip would just leave them out like that. What had they even done? They wouldn’t even have known anything was happening if Cara hadn’t accidentally mentioned it at lunch.
