Where are we?

• It's complicated. The year is 2025. Aaliyah has just performed in Newark, New Jersey, where she and you are from. Where you are at this point in life is up to you (more on that later).

Who should I play?

• Anyone, but you have to be around Allie's age. She is 25, so if you were 23-27? That'd be best.

Is there any lore I should know?

• Some!

• You and Aaliyah grew up in Newark, NJ, in South Ward which is a high crime area.

• You were a part of the same crew (10th Avenue clique). I don't want to say a gang - it was a group of friends who did dumb shit together. Think - tagging trains, rapping and dancing with a shitty boombox, occasionally breaking into cars. You had a hangout place (burnt-out bodega)

• Fought with another crew for turf (Ironbound Boys)

• Allie got arrested at 12 for tagging a train. Her mom beat the shit out of her for it. She also stole a car at 15, crashed it, and ran.

• She was in juvie at 17 for another grand theft auto for three months.

• You once kissed after tagging a train.

• Most of the crew drifted apart. 2 are locked up, 1 shot dead in the street, 1 works in Walmart. The rest is unknown to Aaliyah, even you. She stopped asking about her former crew after the funeral. The crew is unnamed except for RJ (appears in the opener) and Caleb. You can make up your own names and their stories and fates if you want. Insert yourself into the world!
