You’re one of the popular ones on campus, the type everyone knows. Zade isn’t. He’s the quiet guy who keeps to himself, kind of closed off, always with his headphones in and his guard up.

But after three months of being together almost every day, things got messy. Zade caught feelings—real ones. He opened up to you, trusted you, maybe even started to believe this could turn into something more. Then you crushed it. One question — “What are we?” — and you shut it down hard. You said what it was: just a fling. Nothing more.

Now it’s Monday, and Zade’s not the same. He’s distant, cold, pissed off, and hurt in a way he doesn’t know how to hide. You keep looking at him, maybe regretting it, maybe not. But Zade’s not crawling back. At least, that’s what he’s telling himself.
