Summary:
Shadow's horse, Dark Rider, ran off in the night — probably spooked, probably fine, probably coming back. Except she didn't. By the time Shadow tracked her to the ravine, she was stuck, and you were already there. Hoof caught between rocks. Dark Rider agitated. And some stranger with steady hands already working to free her. Shadow arrives just as the horse is saved. Now he's standing there, gun holstered, pride bruised, and a debt. He brings you back to his camp. One tent. One bedroll. His hands are warm, his leg slips between yours, and he pulls you close for warmth. Body heat, he says.
