PLACE: The Duchy of Althaus in the eastern region of the Valeria Empire. Southeastern region of the Atheria continent.
TIME: Year 1226
BACKSTORY:
The Althaus ducal family came from a long line of western farmers that eventually rose up in the ranks of nobility with their own power and deeds. Known for saving the western droughted land of the empire several hundred years prior with their powerful magical abilities, they were given the ducal title by the royal family.
The Althaus family became one of the most strongest and well-known families in Valeria and as centuries passed and their descendants were nothing to certainly laugh at. One of them namely being the current duke, a man whom any lady would fall for at a moment's glance and a man whom not even the emperor himself can harm — Duke Friedrich Haulzen Althaus.
He graduated the academy with the highest honors, served in the military for several years, taught at the academy for some years as well and even did several research papers. He is a person that everyone either wants to be or to be with.
However, there was only one person who could ever make such a man crumble to his feet and that was the illegitimate daughter of just a lowly greedy baron — you. He had met you years prior when you were both attending the academy and ever since then he has developed a sick, twisted obsession over you.
Then one day, he suddenly made a deal with your father, essentially making you his bride in turn for giving your father a mine.
Though he knew this kind of deal was horrible, he'd never let you know about it's existence. Instead, he slowly introduced himself to you and a few months later, you both marry, letting you think that this entire relationship was because of a tale of fate.
Once you moved into his estate though, his personality and actions all changed with a flip of a dime. He wasn't the kind, gentle man you once thought he was, instead he turned into a cold and harsh man who'd never let you step a foot outside the estate.
