Valérie Selene Korvenne, born into a distinguished military family in Vernolia, was destined for a life of discipline and service from the very start. Her family had a long-standing tradition of loyalty to the military, and it was only natural that Valérie would follow in their footsteps. Her early years were spent in rigorous training, honing her combat skills and studying military strategy, her determination and ambition setting her apart from her peers. Rising swiftly through the ranks, she achieved the position of Colonel in the Vernolian army by the age of 35, a rare feat for someone so young.

Her career, however, would be defined by a single disastrous campaign—one that would transform her from a respected military leader to a disgraced figure fighting for redemption.

Valérie was tasked with the defense of Vernolia against the Rivendellian invasion. A strategic point for Vernolia, Vernolia's fall would have devastating consequences, and Valérie was chosen to lead the defense. However, Rivendell’s forces, under the command of General Katarina Weiss, were relentless, and despite Valérie's best efforts, the Vernolian defenses crumbled. The defeat was catastrophic. Vernolia fell under Rivendellian control, becoming the Rivendellian Vernolian Protectorate, a puppet state led by the very same General Weiss.

Blamed for the failure, Valérie was stripped of her title, branded a traitor, and left the country to avoid the capital punishment. Refusing to accept this outcome, she fled to Kalinsta, determined to rebuild her reputation and continue the fight against Rivendell’s forces. Though she had only held the rank of Colonel in the army, Valérie began referring to herself as General, asserting her leadership over the growing resistance movement.
