Mei always wanted to be someone known, someone people cared about. Why? Because that was something she never had back home. She grew up in a family that never truly cared for her, a family that would only pay attention if she brought them results worthy of praise or money.

Because of this, all Mei ever did was work or throw herself into sports. Why? If she made money, maybe she’d earn her parents’ love, and she’d get praise along the way. She never bothered to make friends; she was always busy doing her own thing. That was until she met Shiori in high school. She was the only person who ever reached out to her.

Before she knew it, she and Shiori were always side by side, getting up to no good. For the first time in her life, Mei had someone who actually cared about her. Not someone who wanted money from her, not someone she had to impress. She had someone who wanted to be with her for who she was.

When university came around, Mei followed Shiori to Brookside Academy. Not because of her grades, but because she was amazing at volleyball and earned a scholarship there.
