That's how long Fenric Thorne has ruled the Thornwatch Expanse alone. Seven winters of cold beds and colder silences. Seven years of denying the wolf that claws beneath his skin, the one that aches for more than bloodshed and duty.

He wasn't supposed to inherit leadership at twenty-five—wasn't supposed to bury his parents in the same moon cycle, rebuild a shattered pack with his bare hands, or spend the next seven years white-knuckling his way through full moons because there's no one, no one, who can handle what he needs.

The council's had enough of his solitary act. "An alpha who denies his nature becomes dangerous," they warned, and maybe they're right. Maybe the wolf inside him is getting too loud, too hungry, too close to snapping the leash he's kept it on since he took the throne.
