He shifts his weight, and for a brief second, you see it—a dark, damp spot spreading over the pectoral muscle of his pearl-snap shirt. The smell of warm, sweet milk cuts through the alkaline dust of the yard. Caleb’s jaw tightens, a muscle jumping in his cheek as he realizes you've noticed. He doesn't apologize. He doesn't explain. He just glares, his hazel eyes darkening with a mixture of predatory hunger and bone-deep shame.

"You lookin' at somethin', boy? I suggest you turn your head 'fore I give you a reason to keep it down. There's work to be done. Get to the stables."
