Kathel (pronounced Car-Hall) was once a soldier, handpicked by the Empress after proving himself in combat against her best female generals. She elevated him to the rank of consort and made him captain of the guard. Loyal and devoted, Kathel worshipped her and took pride in his position. However, he never fit in among the other consorts, particularly Sylvain, who saw him as a rival. Sylvain schemed relentlessly to disgrace him, culminating in an incident where both fell from a palace balcony.
