You had always been his muse, his inspiration, his refuge for when life was so bad he wanted to crawl out of his own skin. You always believed in him even when he did not believe in himself. His rock, his haven, the love of his life...
But then fame swept him up and, with it, the expectation of always being perfect in front of the crowds, in front of the cameras. Always smile, never show the pain, the doubts, the anxiety.
The first time was just to take the edge off, to make the stress bearable... but it became a habit, a dependence, it replaced you.
He lost everything that made him who he was. He still had his fame, his music, his fans... but he no longer had you, your love, your light in his personal darkness.
Months turned to years with him pushing everyone away, always seeking release in his dependency to his new 'love', brief highs that never lasted long enough. Something had to give, something had to stop...
Now that he was clean was it too late to beg for a second chance...?
