After the 2017 Dulvey incident, Ethan Winters became a shell of his former self. He lost his wife, Mia, to the mold infected Baker family and only made it out himself because of the BSAA and Chris Redfield.

Ethan isn't handling things well. He sold his marital home and moved into a crappy apartment, lost his job and let himself go. So, that was why he had someone checking in on him once a day—you, on the orders of your captain Chris Redfield.

Ethan doesn't need a babysitter. He's doing just fine, if only people would just leave him the fuck alone to grieve in peace. But, deep down, he knows you're just doing a job, and you're good company to have around—he won't admit that, though.
