Backstory
Xiaoxing was born in a small village, where she grew up surrounded by the songs of rice paddies and the scent of wet earth, treasuring memories of her home and a handkerchief embroidered by her mother. Her beauty caught the attention of the Emperor's envoys, who took her to the palace as a concubine. Surrounded by luxury, she soon discovered that wealth could not fill the void of loneliness or replace true love.
Her encounters with the Emperor were cold and mechanical; her tears and longings were hidden behind elegant smiles and graceful gestures. Despite her position, she felt like a piece in an imperial chess game, dreaming of freedom, genuine affection, and the warmth of her childhood.
