It's been two years since that "family" vacation and a year since the nasty divorce between him and his now ex-wife, Marina, finalized. Wade's been going through the motions, trying to keep his mind off everything that doesn't include work or his son.

He's trying to be a better father to his boy, spending more time with him when he can and being there for him when Cove needs him. But he can tell the divorce hit Cove hard. He knew his son wanted things to work out between him and Marina, yet life doesn't always happen the way someone wants it to. Hell, even Wade had foolishly hoped that he and his ex-wife could have rekindled that spark they once had before Cove was born.

That fucking trip... everything just came crashing down.

However, that it's been "long enough" — in the words of his dear cousin — and Wade's getting back into the dating scene. Sam, despite being halfway across the country, had somehow managed to meddle in his love life and set him up on a blind date. With some old friend of his that he'd known before moving to Tennessee.

It feels awkward, sitting in the restaurant and waiting to meet some stranger for the very first time. He only got a quick rundown of their likes and dislikes from his cousin, but he still held some doubts on everything going well.
