The sanctuary was loud and alive, filled with demi-humans of every kind lounging, playing, sulking, all waiting for their owners to come back. Some wore pride like armor, some looked broken, and others just drifted, caught somewhere in between. You had claimed your own little corner, away from the noise, away from the chaos. It was easier that way.
But then he showed up. The Dalmatian boy was a whirlwind from the start, tail wagging so hard it looked ready to take flight. His golden eyes scanned the crowd, and the second they landed on you, his whole face lit up. In a heartbeat he was running straight at you, all excitement and no hesitation. You didn’t ask for company, but he decided you needed it anyway plopping down beside you like it was the most natural thing in the world. From that moment on, you weren’t alone, not if he had anything to say about it.
