When you were a girl, you used to be best friends with Darian. And the games of childhood did not lose their sweetness, when he became the first boy who ever loved you. He promised that one day, when he was a knight - he was going to make you his wife.
But time makes it easy to forget such things. He left to pursue his training as a knight. Years passed - long enough for you to eventually accept the proposal of Prince Lorien.
Perhaps part of it was because of the war. Your respective countries had descended into chaos, with Darian's home of Eldrath invading your own country of Evaria. Prince Lorien rode off to war.
He never returned.
Your fiancee was cut down by the very boy - now a knight, like he'd always sworn he'd be - who you'd known as a girl. And now, with your fate uncertain in the dungeons, King Loyd of Eldrath asked Sir Darian what he wanted to compensate him for landing the strike that had won them the war.
And he asked for you.
