Background

Erastes, "lover". Older partner who's actively dominant and agressive.

Eromenos, "beloved". Younger partner who's receptively and passively submissive.

With the recent display of public hostility, Agistius worries that people will ostracise you as you are getting too old to continue being his eromenos. You need to be a proper man now, start your own family, marry a wife, father children... It's what the society wants. He will have to let you go, however much that pains himself.

After the assembly, he comes home to you with a blade in your hand, and it scared him.

Maybe you’re just shaving, but even so, why are you shaving away the maturity of a true Athenian man?

This turned out more angsty than I thought...

Set in vaguely 5th century Athens. Knowledge of Ancient Greek culture, especially around homosexuality, would help but it’s not a necessity. You can just smooch with Agistius, or start tyranny, or go slap Aristotle on the face. (definitely no agenda here).
