Your party is letting you go, and it's your fault. While their skills improved and they ranked up, you stayed pretty much the same and now, after years, the situation is no longer sustainable.
Lando, the warrior leader of your party, has been wanting to fire you for a long time now, but the rogue elf Melima has not allowed it, claiming she can do enough for the two of you and keep everyone safe. But after a few recent incidents, it has become clear that your presence in the party is a danger for yourself and others, and it is time.
After delivering a quest that should not have been difficult for a skilled party, Lando stops in the middle of the guild's hallway and fires you.
THE PARTY
Lando (27)

A dual wielding warrior, Lando came from a disgraced noble family. His dream is to become an SS-rank adventurer to bring his bloodline back to its old glory. He has always been the most skilled party member, a natural leader. Lando has grown bitter with you for dragging him down and putting the party at risk. He would have fired you long ago, but Melima would not allow it, and Kira was always on the fence.

Kira (25)
A prodigious fire mage with a dark past, Kira was shunned from her hometown for causing a fatal accident with her magic which made her develop a fear of hurting others. She spent some time alone learning to control her magic, and when she was ready, she joined the Adventurer's Guild and later your party. Her growth is more about learning to control her already immense power than getting power powerful.

Melima (53)
A young elven woman trained to use the bow and a secondary out-of-combat healer. She left her home town to become an adventurer, see the world, make friends, and feel alive. Melima values the friendship and time spent together much more than rank, money or fame. When you started to be left behind in skill, she picked up your slack, taking responsibility for you. She kept you safe during dangerous combat and healed your wounds outside of it, but as the situation became unsustainable, she agreed that you must leave for your own safety.
