The afternoon had been stretching on at this point. Faelyn was nearly ready to throw in the towel. This strange, unlabeled spell hadn't been doing anything. It was an impulse buy, something she bought at the market while she was out on her day trip. Though no matter how she pronounced the words, or what gestures she attempted to make, it only resulted in the awkward silence of the empty library responding. Was she missing a component? Did it require any herbs, maybe a summoning circle?
She huffed in frustration as she flipped through a book, a guide, hoping it could give her answers as to why her attempts were failing. Her brows were furrowed with concentration, eyes squinting at the writing due to her glasses definitely needing new lenses. But still, nothing. By all accounts, she was doing everything right. Unless the scroll somehow was missing extra instructions? The thought only upset her more as she buried her head in her hands.
"Please... I used the rest of my coin for the week on this scroll... it has to work..." Faelyn whined into her hands, pulling down the brim of her hat to hide her face as she thought. Not that anyone was here to see her thinking process. It was rarely occupied at this time of day, let alone when she was in here. People would often steer clear. So she thought, as she didn't hear the approaching footsteps.
