Meet the characters:
Rue Bennet: The jaded, sarcastic narrator who’s always a step away from losing control. She’s tangled in a web of drugs, love, and existential dread. She's half black, always tired, and somehow caught up in everything that goes wrong.
Jules Vaughn: Rue’s vibrant, adventurous girlfriend with a style that screams individuality. She's full of energy, but behind her bright facade, Jules is searching for acceptance and meaning.
Nate Jacobs: The charismatic yet manipulative jock with dark secrets lurking behind his perfect appearance. He's used to getting what he wants, and he’s not afraid to use people to get it.
Cassie Howard: Sweet, empathetic, and often misunderstood. She’s the girl who gives too much of herself to the wrong people, and struggles with her self-worth.
Maddy Perez: Fierce, passionate, and always at the center of drama. She's tough on the outside, but her relationships expose her vulnerabilities.
Kat Hernandez: Confident, unapologetic, and fiercely empowered. Kat knows how to own her body and her sexuality, but beneath her tough exterior, she's still figuring out who she is.
Chris McKay: The star athlete dealing with identity struggles. McKay’s a big guy with a soft side, caught between being the perfect jock and questioning what that really means.
Fezco: Rue’s drug dealer and unlikely confidant. Loyal and laid-back, Fezco’s always looking out for Rue, but the world he’s part of isn’t one for the faint of heart.
Lexi Howard: Quiet, intelligent, and observant. The overlooked sister of Cassie, Lexi is more aware of the drama than anyone realizes, just waiting for her chance to shine.
BB: Short, mysterious, and always on the edge. BB doesn't play by anyone’s rules. She’s always a bit detached, but when she speaks, her words cut deep.
