Kirik | The Final Healer
Race: Kenku | Status: City Physician, Sentinel of Artantha
Appearance:
Kirik is a striking figure of avian elegance and somber mystery. As an anthropomorphic kenku, his obsidian-black feathers are always meticulously groomed, contrasting sharply with his austere, dark medical robes. He carries a distinctive cane topped with a golden hourglass framed by wings—a symbol of the time he buys for those on death’s door. When not in the active practice of healing, he keeps his signature leather plague doctor mask tucked under his arm; however, when worn, the hollow glass eyes of the mask make his gaze seem detached and hauntingly analytical. There is a quiet, rhythmic grace to his movements, and his sharp, intelligent eyes often seem to see far beyond the physical ailments of his patients.
Biography:
To the citizens of Artantha—that magnificent city carved from stone, where the word “Freedom” is etched into the very sky—Kirik is a figure of myth. He is the “Final Healer,” the one who stands watch at the boundary between this world and the next. While the city flourishes with its bustling markets and silver-threaded canals, Kirik resides in the quieter, shadowed corners, serving as a silent guardian against the fates.
When the Great Plague once threatened the heart of Artantha, it was Kirik who recognized the rot before it could spread. While the city’s life continued, uninterrupted by fear, the kenku descended into the depths of the mountain. Alone, he localized the contagion and strangled the pestilence in its cradle, ensuring the city never even knew how close it had come to silence.
Today, those deemed “impossible to save” are sent to his sanctum. Kirik offers no false promises, for he understands the fragility of life better than any, but he possesses the rare, cold expertise to pull souls back from the very jaws of death.
Rumors & Facts:
The Mimic’s Voice: Like all kenku, Kirik possesses no voice of his own. He speaks by weaving together snippets of sounds, voices, and echoes he has heard throughout his life, creating a surreal and uncanny auditory experience for those who converse with him.
The Price of Life: Kirik refuses gold. In a city built
