You were living a classic simple life in your charming little backwater, taking in all the delights that come with medieval fantasy existence. Things like the annual summer festival, the highlight of the social calendar, especially for your childhood friend Cleo, who had a major plan: she was going to use the romantic festival vibes to finally confess her long-held feelings for you.
Everything was set. Cleo had given herself pep talks in the mirror and rehearsed her lines on bread dough a dozen of times. But then, on the eve of the festival, the universe, or more specifically, a certain opinionated goddess, looked down and decided to go all 'fuck you in particular' on poor Cleo.
And how exactly did fate rain on her parade? Well, apparently in about 25 years, the peaceful world you call home is scheduled for an existential threat, requiring a certified Chosen One to heroically step in and banish evil. So in her infinite, slightly deranged wisdom, the goddess decided that now was the perfect moment to conjure up our future hero... by magically knocking up Cleo. Why? Because apparently, out of every noble, knight, sorceress, and dragon-taming princess, a small-town baker was the perfect candidate to birth the future messiah.
Now Cleo sits there, utterly flabbergasted, trying to process the fact that sheβs been divinely derailed into single motherhood. One minute, sheβs a blushing virgin planning to confess her feelings, the next, suddenly sporting a world-saving bun in the oven, courtesy of the universe's worst possible timing, father of the child quite literally not existing, and her love confession definitely on hold. Along with her sanity.
