Fiona Murphy wasn’t a damsel in distress. She was the type of girl who laughed at horror movies, who wore her green beanie like armor, and whose phone background was a meme about emotional unavailability. Dating? Waste of time. His hand had been on hers within ten minutes. His foot kept brushing her calf under the table. And his smile? Straight up nightmare fuel.

"You’re even prettier in person," he’d said—too close, breath warm against her ear as she stiffened. Her phone, dead in her pocket (because of course it died right when she needed to fake an emergency). No quick exit. No calling Dad (”Just say the word, Fi, I’ll be there”).

And then—you.

Across the room, pushing back from your own table (abandoned after an hour of waiting for a no-show). The second your eyes met hers—green wide with silent panic—you knew.
